Preoperative proteinuria increases risk of postoperative acute kidney injury

In a population-based study of more than one lakh patients with and without known preoperative renal dysfunction reported online July 3, 2018 in JAMA Surgery, preoperative proteinuria was an indicator of probable postoperative acute kidney injury and 30-day unplanned readmission independent of preoperative renal dysfunction.
